Author Bio
As
a young child, I began writing poetry, short stories, personal essays and loved
to draw. I attended Pitt Community College and East Carolina University in
Greenville, NC, majoring in Commercial Art and Graphic Design, although I
continued to write poetry for my personal pleasure. After college and marriage,
I put my aspirations on hold until I read “Waiting to Exhale.” The book
rekindled the love I had for self-expression and I have been working on numerous
projects since.
I received a certificate for successfully completing a home-study Fiction
Writing Course from the National Radio Institute out of Washington, DC and
completed my first novel, 'Painted Picture', in September of 2004. I reside in
Chicago with my husband and our four sons and am a grandmother of two and have a
beautiful daughter-in-law. Other than my family, my other loves are reading
(mostly novels), listening to music (mainly R&B), and putting up bulletin
boards.
Yes! I am the queen of bulletin board designs at Peirce School where I currently
work. Not to toot my own horn, but I am just a very creative person and would
love to one day use my artwork to promote literacy and see my bulletin boards
come to life in the form of posters. I have so many dreams that most of the
time, I really don’t know what to do with all of them.
But in the meantime, I guess I’ll just continue to write and hope those of you
who read my work will continue to enjoy it. So stay tuned and don't forget to
check out my excerpts from Painted Picture. Thanx and much love…
