Closer to my dream....
Born in Williamston, North Carolina, I have always been inspired by the written word. Fueled by a vivid imagination, whether it is writing poetry, short stories, novels, or personal memoirs, I can't remember a time when I didn't have a pen or a pencil in my hand. An avid reader as well, I wrote my first book on strips of paper from a dot matrix printer. Following that turning point in my life, I haven't ceased writing.
My published works, which I credit my parents for believing in an education and pursuing my dreams, include novels: 'Painted Picture' (2004) and 'Daylight Coming' (2006), both published under my literary company, Adira Books. I am also a contributing author to Style-ology Magazine,. The articles I wrote are: Obama: A Time for Change (02/09) and Child Maid Trafficking (04/09). Recently I completed my first short story, 'The Devil's Poison', for 'The Shattered Glass Effect', a fiction anthology (WINTER 2009 release). I've also completed my third novel titled, 'Prey for the Wicked', released September 2010.
Other than honing my craft conducting writing workshops, I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy painting, listening to music of all sorts, and quiet time, whenever I can find any. My future goals consist of starting a novelty company that promotes literacy as well as becoming a bestselling author. I currently reside in Chicago with my husband, Sylvester. We are the proud parents of four wonderful sons and have two beautiful grand daughters and one grand son.
